Hello, my name is Andrea Castro and I am a part of the ASU Student Chapter of the GreenLight Solutions Foundation. One of my sustainability accomplishments is my contributions to GreenLight Solutions on ASU's Tempe campus. This semester, I was able to become a Solutioneer and join a team and get to work! Jessie Bistrais, Iona Isachsen, Rachel Antidormi, Meghan Marshall, Kait Spielmaker and I collaborated with Tiny House Developers, a business located in Phoenix, in order to find solutions to their waste problem. Tiny House Developers is a business with specialists in tiny home construction and tiny house community development and they have collaborated with Singleton Community in creating Build us H.O.P.E, a project that established a tiny house community for homeless and disabled Veterans in Phoenix, Arizona. My team and I were able to find solutions in diverting their waste from the landfill by creating partnerships with companies who were able to recycle construction materials. Overall, we were able to divert 67% of materials from landfills! Our team was also able to assist in company growth by finding potential scholarships for future interns, 8 organizations and 3 events to connect with other nonprofits, companies, and organizations! I am very grateful for being a part of this wonderful team and I cannot wait to work on future projects! If you would like to see this project and all the other team's accomplishments, we'll be speaking at our biannual Solutioneer Showcase on Thursday, April 23rd, 6:00-8:00 pm, with a networking opportunity afterward. Please RSVP to our Facebook Event or at this link, and share this invitation with your network! Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to seeing you at the Showcase!
